Volunteering: If you are looking for a place to share your time, a few hours a week, a month, or a one-time project, we have several options for you to choose from:
Work in the food pantry. This consists of stocking shelves, helping clients select food (if needed), offering creative ideas for using a food item, counting and bagging food.
Monday from 10-3PM
Thursday from 12-5PM
Donate food items to the pantry on a monthly basis by cleaning out your cabinets at home (check expiration dates) or picking up a few extra items when you do your regular shopping.
Organize a food drive through your local church, sorority, work place, club or social network.
When you have extra food from a work/church/social function we are delighted to be the recipient of these items. The items need to be delivered to the shelter.
If you have a sudden urge to make cookies or other treat and bring to the shelter for the families just to let them know you were thinking of them.
Babysitting during the day or evening while residents are in class (from 1-2 hours).
Office help needed any part of Monday through Friday from 9-5. Consists of answering phones, taking messages, receiving donations, putting donations away, making copies, stocking pantry shelves, light office housekeeping.
Outside maintenance: Mowing our grass, weed-eating, washing shelter windows, picking up trash around the grounds.
Provide a family fun night for our residents. Bring games and snacks and spend the evening playing with the children while allowing parents to ‘get away’ for a 1-2 hours.
Do you have a special craft or talent that you would like to share with our adults or children?
Light maintenance: painting units or cleaning units when clients vacate.
Donate items to Bridgepointe Goodwill in honor of Anchor House; we get clothing vouchers from those donations to give out to those in need in our community.
Become a regular financial donor to the shelter and participate in the future of our children!
